Tradition meets modernity
A warm welcome to the Hotel Wysses Rössli in Schwyz.
One of the most beautiful and diverse main towns in Central Switzerland, which invites you to go hiking, boating or exploring.
The Wysses Rössli impresses with its tradition and class on the outside and on the inside with its culinary highlights and finesse. A house that combines home-style cooking on the one hand and gourmet cuisine on the other. Rounded off with a generous and varied wine selection with a focus on Switzerland. In addition to the culinary offer, our hall rounds off the needs of togetherness. Be it as Party, seminar or as a presentation room. Our range could not be more varied.
Added to this are the 27 rooms, which are perfectly designed for lingering but also for discovering the region. Or perhaps you would prefer to get to know the culinary diversity at the Rössli.
A place where traditional hospitality and gastronomy are combined with modern hospitality. Come in and experience us.
We look forward to being your hosts

Our history
„A prey to the flames“
But it all began a little earlier, when in 1642 the village fire destroyed a large part of the village of Schwyz, and the then Gasthaus zum Rössli was also destroyed by the flames. According to the council minutes of 1642, the Schwyz council, when considering the reconstruction of the village, found that, in addition to the church and the town hall, the most distinguished and important building was a well-located tavern, the village inn.
„A new Rössli is being created“
The Rössli was built by master builder Jeremias Meyer. As before the fire, the new inn remained in the possession of the Bettschart family for some time. In 1733, the inn and its stables, the two gardens and the cheese cellar were leased to the Weber brothers for 190 guilders.
„A house for travelers“
The Rössli soon became the property of the Weber families. In the years 1742-1835 and again in the period 1848-1910, the Schwyz post office was located in the „Wysses Rössli“ hotel. The Rössli has always been a place to stay for travelers passing through. Many prominent guests such as Goethe, General Guisan and several federal councillors were among them. The famous Schwyz writer Meinrad Inglin even stayed at the „Wysses Rössli“ hotel during the winter months in the last years of his life.
„A new chapter begins“
In 1970, the Swiss Bank Corporation bought the „Wysses Rössli“ hotel and reopened it after a complete rebuild in 1978.
„Tradition in new hands“
The Schwyz entrepreneur Karl Trütsch-Langlois acquired the current „Wysses Rössli“ hotel in 2002, when all the rooms were renovated and the entire restaurant was refurbished in 2007.
